Dr. Nancy Sulla joined Larry Ferlazzo on his latest online radio show to discuss “Do Now Activities: What Works, What Does Not.” Along with fellow Education Week contributors Michele L. Haiken and Matt Homrich-Knieling, Larry and Nancy explored the dos and don’ts of Do Nows.

Dr. Sulla supported the WHY behind students planning and scheduling what they will do when they arrive at class vs. the teacher controlling that. She stated that “when designing student-driven classrooms, the most important criteria is that the do-now is designed by the student.” When asked by Larry for a good question teachers can ask themselves when planning their activities, Dr. Sulla responded: “Does the student have ownership?
