IDE Corp. is proud to announce that Bayonet Point Middle School in Pasco County Florida has been named by 10News as School of the Week by Duke Energy Florida. 10News explains, “Combine a strong STEM program with choice in learning and you get STEM-LATIC which is a core component of Bayonet Point Middle School. LATIC means students take a large responsibility in their education, but also make choices based on the best way they learn.”
When asked about students and the STEM focus, Learner-Active, Technology-Infused Classroom (LATIC), and Authentic Learning Units (ALU’s) at Bayonet Point, Principal Shelly Carrino responded, “We are providing them with a felt-need [for learning] and are trying to connect it to what’s current and what’s happening in the real world today so that they can become problem solvers, and critical thinkers, and 21st-century learners.”
