Welcome To My World! June Young's Hyperlinking Narrative
Hi, my name is June and this is my world. I teach special education to emotionally disturbed teenage boys at Glenview Academy in Fairfield, New Jersey. These boys are really wonderful children who function on very low academic levels and come from less than ideal home environments. But I'm getting off the topic of me; so let me now get down and personal. Like I said, my name is June. I am 34 years old and currently live in Parsippany, N.J. with my husband, Adam and my dog, Maya. I grew up on the shore of New Jersey. I have one brother who I love very much. I went to Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a certification in Special Education. After graduation in 1990 I taught multiple handicapped middle school and high school students for 3 ½ years. After that time I determined I needed to take some time off to figure out "what I wanted to be when I grew up." After a couple of years I finally settled on wanting to be a social worker. This of course resulted in my having to return to school for more education. In 1998, I received my Master's in Social Work from New York University. I originally went to work for a friend, which was a big mistake. After that, I worked in a psychiatric vocational rehab facility. After 2 years of this I realized that I actually preferred teaching to social work. I struck gold when I came to Glenview, as I am able to utilize both my teaching and my social work skills in the same position. My plans for the future career is eventually to open up a private practice in social work, however, I am not at that point in my life at this time.
I enjoy many things in my "spare time". One of my favorite things is to surf the Internet. At the bottom of this page I will list some of my favorite sites. I also enjoy reading. Some of my favorite authors are John Grisham, James Patterson, Sandra Brown, and select others. I also enjoy playing computer video games, watching television, and doing counted cross-stitch. My favorite sport is baseball and my favorite team is the New York Yankees.
