Allison Mead and June Troiano What elements of the Learner-Active, Technology Infused Classroom have you incorporated into your classrooms?
What have your experiences with Problem-Based learning been? This is our second year incorporating problem-based learning into the curriculum. We have found that the students love to learn in this environment. After completing a PBL task, we assess our students through traditional methods and have found that they have a deeper understanding of the content. What ways do you use technology in your classroom? Every day, the students use the computers for researching, word processing, and utilizing CD ROMs that reinforce skills taught. We have also been able to use the Smart Board in our classrooms to demonstrate concepts and lessons. Using the Smart Board, the children are engaged and actively involved in using technology. What is the hardest challenge about implementing Problem-Based Learning Activities in your classes? Due to special services and special classes (Instrumental Music, Speech, Great Books, Resource Room, etc.), we have found it difficult to schedule a block of time to work on the PBLs when all our students are in the classroom at the same time. What is the best thing about implementing Problem-Based Learning activities in your classroom? The best thing about implementing PBL activities is to see that the students are so motivated! They are actively involved, the excitement is unbelievable, and the final products are very impressive! What are your goals for your classroom? Our goal is to continue to create more PBL activities across the curriculum. Copyright © 2002 IDE Corp. All rights reserved. |
