New Jersey Historical Sites
Historic Morris Visitors Center
Morris County has some of the most important historical sites in the state particularly when it comes to the history of the Revolutionary War. This site contains links to Morristown National Historical Park, which was the site of the Continental Army camp during the years of 1779-1780. This site also provides information on some other historical sites of interest. These include Fosterfields, a working 19th century farm; Cooper Grist Mill; and Mount Hope Historical Park where some of the earliest mining was done in this area.

Indian King Tavern Museum
Indian King Tavern, located in Haddonfield, is an example of an 18th century tavern and its architecture. In 1777, when the Revolutionary War had made meeting in Trenton impossible, this tavern also was where the NJ Assembly officially declared its independence and established its statehood. This site gives plenty of historical info as well as details on the tavern's architecture.

Old Barracks Museum
As the site states: "The Old Barracks Museum in Trenton, originally built in 1758 to house troops during the French and Indian War, is best remembered for its role in the 1776 and 1777 Battles of Trenton during the Revolutionary War." This well designed site contains tons of info on the museum as well as a neat feature called "Ask the Historian" where you can find answers to all your questions about the Revolutionary War.


Osama bin Laden

This is an overview of the threat of Osama bin Laden by ABC news that clearly states how he helps fund terrorist organizations around the globe. A graphic explores his impact on different countries around the world.

Who is Osama bin Laden?
Written by the BBC, this is a great background on bin Laden, including biographical information and insight on what has motivated his terror campaign against the United States. A link takes you to a full-length video news story on bin Laden.

Bin Laden: Public Enemy Number One
This Web site, called The Smoking Gun, contains actual government documents regarding bin Laden and his activities. It also contains actual terrorist "manuals" used by bin Laden's followers uncovered during investigations into his activities.

Hunting bin Laden
Created as a companion to the PBS series "Frontline", this beautifully constructed Web site contains a great deal of information on his background and organization. Especially chilling are the videos and transcripts of interviews with the terrorist, himself.

Terror Groups Hide Behind Web Encryption
An article published in June of 2001in USA Today that discusses how bin Laden's followers communicate through encryption on the Internet.

The American Experience: The Donner Party
If you want to really get the most from this site, you will need to order the video from PBS. Go to About the Program to order the video. The Teachers Guide, and some online resources are available online from this site and could add a lot to any unit on Pioneers. Set the stage for you students by asking them to imagine they were pioneers and stuck in a blizzard. What would they do?

The American West
This site has a load of resources for teaching about Pioneers. Some of the content may need to be modified for younger students but it offers a great photo collection of pioneers from the West that can be used for any age.
