The official site for the National Aids Foundation. A site with statistics and precise information on AIDS and HIV.

The Body
A fantastic informational site for HIV, AIDS and other STD's. Visitors can take a test to find out their vulnerability to STD's as well as find specific treatment information and links to more resources.

HIV InSite
An educational and up-to-date Web site about HIV/AIDS Awareness, understanding, prevention and governmental policy.

CDC Prevention site
The CDC provides information, articles, educational sites and much more for HIV, AIDS and other STD's.

Aids Memorial Quilt
The goal of this quilt is to allow AIDS patients and family a creative way to express their emotions while dealing with this deadly disease and the after effects on the love ones left behind.

Blind Awareness Week

Helen Keller Kids Museum Online
This online museum has been written for elementary school students. Children can read her biography and see images and photos. After reading the biography, more information can be found with several provided links.

Helen Keller - American Foundation for the Blind
This site provides an online biography with links to photos, interviews, additional resources, artifacts, and several of her writings. This biography has been written as a Hyperlinking narrative.

Ivy Green - Birthplace of Helen Keller
Ivy Green is the birthplace of Helen Keller. This site provides information about her hometown with pictures and interviews from local towns' people. Maps, artifacts, and current information is also provided.

National Women's Hall of Fame
General information about famous women is provided on this site. Students can find basic information in this short biography of Helen Keller.

The Internet Public Library is a fantastic resource for online newspapers. The page is divided by continent allowing the user to then select the specific country.

Refdesk
Refdesk provides links to papers all around the United States as well as links to popular newspapers around the world. Direct links are provided for the top 10 most popular newspapers in the United States and in the world.

ABYZ News and Media Links
ABYZ not only gives links to newspapers around the world but also provides links to different online news media sources from around the world. Some site do contain video clips from news broadcasts.

Iditarod

The official site of the Iditarod race. The official 2005 race begins on March 5th. Log on daily to see live Web cams, pictures, quotes and the latest statistics and logs from the mushers.

Dogsled
This site gives you all sorts of information about the Iditarod race and other races like it. Find information about the dogs, the mushers and even how to join a live race! There is a specific area for kids, audio and video clips and live weather updates from all of the dogsled races.

Education World and the Iditarod Web Cam
This site provides an article about ways to use Web cams in the classroom. One way mentioned is how a teacher used the Iditarod Web cam in her classroom to incorporate several different subject areas and skills throughout her curriculum. Great reading and it does contain a link to the specified teachers' resources.

Scholastic Iditarod Race Across Alaska
Scholastic provides several lesson plan ideas for the Iditarod. Many links and activities are provided with curriculum concepts and mapping.

Women do compete and win the Iditarod! This site has the history of women in the Iditarod along with basic facts and a lot of unknown information about the Iditarod.

A great site! Comprehensive and informative. Through calendars, representing each month, themes are presented, with accompanying photographs, that compare and contrast the Israel of the past and present.

Israel at 50 A Statistical Glimpse
You don't need to be a statistician -- statistics are provided in a clear, easy to read format for categories such as the land, people, economy, education, and culture. A great site for anyone conducting research or just seeking to increase knowledge.

News for Children

The School Times International
The School Times is a monthly newspaper. Give your students the opportunity to read what is happening in other places of the world. This site has great articles to read for older students and lets your students download real player to listen to newscasts from around the world.

KIDS Report Page
The KIDS Report is a biweekly publication produced by K-12 students as a resource to other K-12 students. This months feature articles revolve around the Early American settlements. It has a great archived article and resource area, as well as a search engine that students can use to inquire about articles or resources on specific topics.

Kids' Place
Activities, articles written by kids for kids, resources by subject matter, and wacky web tales that encourage kids to identify and use grammar in a fun way.

Time for Kids
Just the site to visit to help kids keep informed about international current political, environmental, and sports news and events. You can post an email to Time magazine.

National Geographic
A great site for all ages. Includes great multimedia presentations of featured articles. Contains oodles of information about different cultures and environmental issues -- just like the magazine and TV specials.

Children's Express
Created by children for everyone. Children's Express is a news service developed by children -- targeting preteens and teens -- reporting on the issues that affect their lives. Two of this month's articles include: "When Kids Mourn, and a Camp that Helps" and "Young Gambling Can Ruin Adult Life."

Osama bin Laden

Who is Osama bin Laden?
Written by the BBC, this is a great background on bin Laden, including biographical information and insight on what has motivated his terror campaign against the United States. A link takes you to a full-length video news story on bin Laden.

Bin Laden: Public Enemy Number One
This Web site, called The Smoking Gun, contains actual government documents regarding bin Laden and his activities. It also contains actual terrorist "manuals" used by bin Laden's followers uncovered during investigations into his activities.

Hunting bin Laden
Created as a companion to the PBS series "Frontline", this beautifully constructed Web site contains a great deal of information on his background and organization. Especially chilling are the videos and transcripts of interviews with the terrorist, himself.

Terror Groups Hide Behind Web Encryption
An article published in June of 2001in USA Today that discusses how bin Laden's followers communicate through encryption on the Internet.
