Education Place provides an extensive choice of graphic organizers for grades K-5. The files are in PDF format so they can not be changed, but the basics are great and easy to print off. Adobe Acrobat Reader is necessary to read and print the files.

North Carolina educator Laura Candler created this extensive selection of printable teacher resources, catalogued under easily accessed headings. Graphic Organizers includes such commonly used organizers as a sequencing map, a KWL chart, and a Venn diagram.

Education World offers a small list of graphic organizers. There are Venn Diagrams, KWHL Charts and even Spider Maps. The greatest feature of these templates is they can be downloaded and the user is able to edit the document.

Globe Program
GLOBE students make environmental observations at or near their schools and report their data through the Internet. Scientists use GLOBE data in their research and provide feedback to the students to enrich their science education. Online Quiz Sites for Teachers

QuizCenter
Sponsored by Discovery.com, QuizCenter allows teachers to create online quizzes that include short answer, essay, multiple choice, true or false, or matching questions. Teachers have the option of having the results graded, graded and sent to them, or sent to them without grading. Teachers can also set up classes to restrict access to quizzes. The great news - this service is totally free!

Syvum. com
This site contains a host of online quizzes on a huge variety of topics. Teachers who register with the site can also create gradebooks and create new quizzes. The only drawback - in an effort to keep costs down, this site is replete with annoying pop-up advertisements. For a small fee the advertisements can be removed.

QuizStar
A free Web site that allows the teacher to create online quizzes, create groups of students, and limit access to quizzes. What is especially nifty with this site is that you can put a limit on the amount of time a student can work on a quiz in one sitting.

Quia
Quia is one of the most popular online quiz sites, with 14 different possible quiz templates - ranging from matching games to hangman. Quizzes are organized by subject, but the most popular quizzes are also listed. Many of the quizzes are available for free. Subscription entitles a teacher to create his/her own quizzes and keep track of students' scores.

QuizLab
Quizlab allows the teacher to create his/her own tests or use already made ones. Teachers set up classes of students, and when the students take the online tests, their results are emailed to the teacher directly. The site also has grade book and emailing capability. Though the Web site is totally subscription-based, there is a free trial available.

This Web site is great for teachers who are looking for ideas on how to incorporate technology and Internet use into their current curriculum. The site offers curriculum ideas, research tools, on-line activities for students, and links to many useful sites. The copyright section is particularly useful to teachers introducing the concept of copyright law and plagiarism.

Student Guide to Avoiding Plagiarism
This page offers a basic explanation of plagiarism, as well as useful rules for students on note-taking, writing papers, and citing sources. This page would make an excellent handout or reference for students struggling with the concept.

Preschool Education
This site contains tons of ideas for early childhood education. The site is a little difficult to figure out at first. Click on "frames" version, if your computer supports frames, and use the frame to navigate the site. Includes many activities, printable Sesame Street letter pages for students to color, theme topics, useful tips from teachers, stories, songs, fingerplays, developmental checklist, message board, stores, and more!

Stormie's Preschool site
This site is maintained by a preschool teacher and includes a year's worth of curriculum themes and instructional activities, resources for classroom management, a lounge for teachers to post questions and ideas, and much more!

The Idea Box
Check out the idea of the day, and the archives, seasonal ideas, music and songs, recipes, and crafts. Includes a message board, printable pages, and links to other relevant sites.

Primary Sources on the Web

EyeWitness: History through the Eyes of Those Who Lived It
This Web site indexes eyewitness accounts of major events in history from Ancient Times to the Present. The Web site is easy to use, and includes a section called "snap shots" with pictures from different time periods.

Repositories of Primary Sources
This contains a list of over 4800 online collections of primary sources. The collections are organized by region of the world. For instance, the United States sections lists the collections found in each individual state. Incredibly thorough, but probably best used if you know what you are looking for.

American Memory
This Web site, created by the Library of Congress, allows you to search millions of digital primary sources in hundreds of collections. You can search by subject, time period, collection or type of source. It centers on American history. It is very thorough!

NARA: Primary Sources and Activities
The National Archives and Records administration caters specifically to educators with this collection of primary sources and activities centered on American history.

The Medieval History Sourcebook
This site is one that also has many different resources on the topic and this includes professionals that will come to your school to teach you more about the environment. It also has information on how to setup a curriculum on the topic.

SAT (The New SAT tests)

Would Shakespeare get into Swathmore?
This is an article written for Atlantic.com about the new SAT Test and the change of the standard scores. Most of the article addresses the new Writing section and the change of the base score for this section of the SAT Test. The new test is to begin in 2005.

The College Board
This site gives excellent information about the new test and what to expect in each area. Find free brochures, example testing questions and information about registration. There is also a Q&A area for teachers, parents, administrators and students.

New York Times Question of the Day
The NY Times gives a SAT Prep Question of the Day. Each day a new question appears for the students to answer. Once the question is answered and submitted, the correct answer is displayed. At that time, there is a link for further explanation as to WHY answer was correct or incorrect. This question changes daily and there is a link for strategies to answer the specific question of the day.

College Power Prep
This site is NOT a free site but does contain some free software downloads and tips for taking the new SAT Test. On this site there are free software downloads for Test taking tips, vocabulary terms and math questions. At anytime if it is not a free area, a warning does appear and you are asked for a registration number.

Quiz Hub
Learn new vocabulary words with this fun online interactive game. Lay a matching game to reinforce SAT vocabulary words. Simply click on a word an find the match by clicking on the definition.

Students can enter their information and get results that best suit their qualifications. There are over 600,000 scholarships and over one billion dollars worth of money available through their database. They also have a database of educational loans as well.

FastWeb
This site matches the student up with scholarships, grants, and fellowships. It also provides college applications and help on selecting a "perfect" school.

Absolutely Scholarships
This site has a partnership with eStudentLoans.com. Therefore, a student can look on either database. The site is free and gives you access to about 200,000 scholarships.

Collegeboard.com
The College Board compiles the scholarships found on this site. There are over one million awards. This is actually part of a larger site that could really help a student preparing for college.

Scholarship Experts
The main difference with this site is that it is a pay site. It costs $29.95 to join but you get a larger database in a variety of categories and subdivisions. You can also preview the site before paying for the subscription. The site does provide some personal help if it is needed.
